When I first started in photography I had so much support from my family. My mother has always been my biggest fan. She and I have nurtured this business since I was in middle school. She taught me so much to get me where I am today. She has sacrificed so many hours into this business and taught me so much by just that. I have something to be proud of because of my parents investing in my dreams I didn’t even know how far would take me. Photography is my life. I can’t help but think of my birthday gift from my dad when I was 11. Pink Kodak digital camera with 10 megapixels maybe..My first DSLR camera for my 14th birthday. Now 21 a lot has changed since then. I now edit and take pictures and run the business side. After eight years now my mother still second shoots with me at weddings. My mother has always wanted what's best for me. She inspires me to be my best self.
I have so many inspirations I take note from. The best of the best when it comes to entrepreneurial marketing and branding. Jasmine Star. She has also helped me learn new strategies to marketing.
A few quotes of Jasmine’s I like:
◇A big turning point in my life and business was the opportunity to organize my work schedule ◇
》When I change my behavior and created a PLAN and STRATEGY focused on work productivity, my life changed.
It’s important to subscribe and join email list of people who share the same interest as you. Following others that are sharing the journey with you will help you learn and find ways for you to work your business in new ways you hadn’t thought of before.
Maybe you have been wanting to try something new and all it takes is just a little encouragement to push through. You may be the type of person who has to have someone tell you straight before you will do something about it.
This is part of an email from J* I received this past week. Also one of the reasons why I love her!!
“Even though I had NO IDEA how to take profesh photos, I turned that camera into the business of my dreams and...
...within 4 years I was voted as Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World by American Photo Magazine.
Over the years, my business has evolved—
And today, my modus operandi is to empower entrepreneurs to build a brand, market it on social media, and attract your ideal clients…
So you can build a business you’re proud of and a life you love.
Because you know what’s more terrifying than any scary movie?
Letting your fear hold you back from showing up as the real you, sharing your voice, and pursuing your dreams.
And like my wise mama once whispered to me…
Life is too short to not do what you love.
Can I get an AMEN to that?
This is your life. This isn’t a movie. How do YOU want to live it?
And, pass the popcorn plz.
P.S. Update: I’m grateful my mom is in remission and healthy today. She’s a fighter, just like you and me.
In a few days, I’ll tell you about that time JD lost his wedding ring in the largest freshwater lake in the world…
You’ll also find out how you can explore new social media waters with a community of creative entrepreneurs who’ve got your back, no matter what.
See you soon!”
SO the question I get asked all the time.. “Do you still take pictures?” My answer. YES!!! I will never stop taking pictures. This is my gift from God and If I shouldn’t pursue it I would be lost without purpose. Why do people ask me this question I don't understand. But I have learned I’m not as consistent on Social Media Platforms as I should be for the amount of feedback and engagement I want. I have shoots booked no problem. But what if that was all I did. How can I go from 6 to 7 shoots a month to 6 to 7 shoots a week? How can I put my business out there so nobody has to question if I still take photos?
I'm more open to learning than I ever have been. My mindset is changing and this is for the better in all aspects of my personal life and business life.
Finding someone to follow and connect with not only helps you but it help those you follow as well. 2018 has been full of challenges and the greatest challenge I’ve taken on this year is growing myself. I felt like I had become stagnant and I was in a creativity rut. I was bored with my work and I just wasn’t happy where I was at. You are the only person in control of how you live your life.
Schedules have been made and alarms set but still I lacked the motivation I once had. I have great motivation when it come to capturing photos and memories but when it came to running and making my business flow I had no clue where to begin. How do I organize my thoughts, my work, my office. My space I work in.
I have decorated a space for me to work and let my creativity flow when I’m creating post for the month. I have a system to my editing and workflow. I have organized my processing and added categories to my business. I use a productivity planner designed by Jasmine Star I use. I have also got a better PC with a bigger monitor to edit on. I recently got new presets to edit with to give my images more of a style I envision for my images I capture.
“The truth is no matter where you sit down to work every day, that space has to feel positive and productive for you. Get organized and take back your life!”
This quote from Julie Ann Jones, from my Girls Atlanta Trip back in July, ignited in me. Since then it hasn’t been the same for me. I have forward momentum to growing my business!
Who inspires you?
